Legislative

The Legislative Affairs Committee monitors and establishes Chamber positions on proposed state and local legislation and regulations. The Chamber is being more proactive by improving communications with our elected officials.

  • Increase the awareness of Chamber members on proposed legislation at federal, state, and local levels by providing information on bills and status of legislation.
  • Work closely with State, County, and Borough to revise comprehensive plans and other changes.
  • Host events with elected officials to share views and information on issues affecting business. Treasurer/Budget/Sponsorship

A Finance Committee is in place chaired by the Chamber’s Treasurer, to monitor and report the financial aspects of the Chamber. Duties include the preparation and review of the monthly and annual financial reports, preparation of the Chambers annual budget, charting the progress of the Chamber Board of Directors at each monthly meeting.

Communication

The Communication Committee facilitates the Chamber communication plan, communication technologies, website and Southern Exposure newsletter, thus fostering community awareness of the Chamber and its members.

Membership

The Membership Committee coordinates events, educational opportunities, member services and advertising for the Chamber. The team will continue to seek quality benefits to increase the value of Chamber membership, offer seminars covering topics that will be useful and informative to our members. Publish the annual Business Directory. Hold events that foster networking and fellowship for members.

Ambassador

As a sub-committee of membership, the Ambassador Committee members serve as mentors to new members and assist them get acclimated and involved with the Chamber, its programs, and other members. Ambassadors invite members to events, meet & greet new members at Chamber functions, and assists Chamber staff with recruiting and retention efforts.

HR

The Human Resources Committee reviews staff needs, benefits, job descriptions, the staff evaluation process, and records for the Chamber.

Board Development

The Board Development Committee holds responsibility for the nomination officers, recruitment of board members, reviews committee structure; as well as plan and facilitates the Board Retreat.

Strategic Focus

The Oversight Committee consisting of the Chamber VP, Chairman of the Board, and Executive Director focus on strategic planning for the Chamber.
