SCCCC President’s Message

Dear Members and Friends,

It is indeed an honor to lead the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce.  When I became involved with the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 2008, I was introduced to many business and civic leaders throughout the region.  As I have said many times, I continue to be impressed, not just by the people, but by their commitment to creating and maintaining a thriving business community in southern Chester County.

Our Mission is to support and promote business and economic development in the Southern Chester County region. We seek to strengthen the development of business and industry, provide a means for communication among appointed and elected officials and regional business leaders, offer relevant and timely educational opportunities for businesses, and foster community spirit. To meet the Mission, it is incumbent upon us to provide opportunities for members to remain actively engaged with Chamber, and importantly, with each other.  To that end the Board and Chamber staff are focused on providing members with expanded educational offerings, new and exciting networking opportunities, and forums to further strengthen the relationships between member companies.

I strongly encourage member participation in our networking and educational events and programs, among them, Business Card Exchanges, Member Breakfasts, Network at Noon luncheons and our new educational initiative, SCCC-University. These programs are designed to maximize networking opportunities, grow member businesses, and provide members a platform from which they are able to extend their reach throughout the region. In addition to programming, there are four standing committees that spearhead the Chamber’s initiatives in support of our Mission. The Membership Committee seeks to engage existing members by reaching out and communicating Chamber benefits and opportunities, and, importantly to attract new members to the organization. The Ambassadors Committee works in conjunction with the Membership Committee as liaisons with new and current members to encourage participation and to give members a voice within the Chamber.

Our Community and Government Relations Committee keeps abreast of municipal, state and federal political and economic climates, particularly as they affect the southern Chester County business community. This active group is our resource for information on pending legislation and local political and economic events in the region and presents the forum for the spring and fall luncheon events. The Communication Committee supports the Chamber’s efforts with the various communication and social media vehicles that keep us all informed.  These include the Chamber web site, www.scccc.com; a quarterly digital news publication, Southern Exposure; our presence on social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn; and e-mail communication through Constant Contact. Each of these Committees are staffed by Chamber member volunteers and chaired by a member of the Board of Directors. Involvement in the committees is an excellent way to stay active with Chamber and connect with the business community. I encourage all members to consider lending their time and talent to one or more of these committees.

The Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce is a growing (having passed the 500-member mark) and vibrant organization that reflects the region in which it serves.  I look forward to working with, and for, the southern Chester County community.
