Susan Renz, PhD, DNP, GNP-BC Honored with the 2026 Dean’s
Exemplary Service Award

Longstanding Board Leader Recognized for Transformational Impact on Nursing Education and Community Health

Susan Renz, Assistant Board Clerk and Clerk of the Health Services Board Committee at Kendal~Crosslands Communities (KCC), has been named a recipient of the 2026 School of Nursing Dean’s Exemplary Service Award by the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, a distinction recognizing extraordinary contributions to academic leadership, innovation, and service.

According to the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Susan received this prestigious honor for demonstrating outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to faculty and student mentorship through the comprehensive redesign and rigorous review of the School’s MSN Nurse Practitioner programs. Her work ensured alignment with AACN Level II competencies and requirements, setting a new standard for excellence in graduate nursing education.  Through collaborative leadership, Susan successfully guided these program advancements through the Master’s Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Senate, a process that resulted in a transformative shift in how graduate nursing education is delivered and evaluated at the institution.

Susan is a long-standing, highly valued member of the KCC Board of Directors, where she serves as Assistant Board Clerk and Clerk of the Health Services Board Committee. Over more than two decades, she has demonstrated unwavering dedication to governance excellence, strategic innovation, and community health improvement. “Susan is an exceptional thought leader who has been dedicated to the health and well-being of our community for more than 20 years,” said Lisa Marsilio, Chief Executive Officer. “Her steady leadership has strengthened our quality improvement processes and best care practices. More recently, she has been instrumental in advancing innovative recruitment initiatives to strengthen the health care workforce. Susan’s impact is both profound and enduring.”

Her influence is particularly evident in clinical leadership and nursing professional development. “Susan’s leadership and commitment to advancing nursing professionals have elevated both practice and education,” said Donna Taylor, Chief Health Services Officer. “Her work strengthens the pipeline of skilled, mission-driven clinicians and ensures the next generation of nurses is prepared to meet the evolving needs of patients and communities.”
The 2026 Dean’s Exemplary Service Award recognizes not only Susan’s significant academic contributions but also her broad influence as a trusted leader, mentor, and advocate for excellence in health care. Her dedication continues to shape institutions, inspire professionals, and improve outcomes for the communities she serves.
